If Phoot Camp had superlative awards, Kansas City resident Robert Josiah Bingaman would win "best dry execution" hands down. I can't think of anyone who made us laugh more -- which is ironic given that Rob has one of the most sober, thoughtful approaches to photography of the group. His stunning, minimalist photographs inform his painting work, and vice versa.
"Everyone there is sort of "about" the same thing--for the weekend--without saying as much, in a really very positive, giving, possibility-bending, affirming way. It was just people who love taking pictures. A bunch of people who are usually "the one" who does that, all doing it together. Like the Where's Waldo with all the Waldos (if you ever saw that one)."
